Peripera Metallic Green

Hello again! Sorry for not posting for another week! I was so caught up with getting my life back ever since I became free from assignments hahahaha! Today I have for you Peripera Metallic Green and I got it after seeing how awesome it was on The Polished Perfectionist. It doesn’t have any fancy name, and the name Metallic Green certainly is not showing its true prowess!

Check out the awesome bottle!!!!! The bottle cap is cat-shaped with this cute little tail! Peripera is actually a Korean brand, although I’ve never heard of it before. The bottle totally shows how duochromish this is, but check out the following pictures for the full effect! Oh and also, the logo imprint on the bottle is HOLOGRAPHIC! Omg all the effort they’ve made all just for the design of the bottle! ❤

Peripera Metallic Green is a frosty gold/olive/green/blue duochrome. I hate the frostiness of it because the brushstrokes show so easily and you really have to paint with caution so that the brushstrokes are more even and less obvious. If not because of the awesome duochrome I would have hated how frosty it is! This is two coats although if you’re careful you could really get away with just one coat, and the brushstrokes can kinda be reduced by Seche Vite but it can still be seen.

Oh by the way, the polish has this very nice scent! When you polish, you won’t be able to smell it but once it dries the nice perfume scent comes out! I wore this polish for a week and it is still there faintly! Freaking awesome stuff. I hated the brush though, because it is totally like the OPI Pro-Wide brush, which isn’t suitable for my tiny fingers at all ): Other than that, no complaints! I love this soooooo much!!!

Words can’t describe how awesome this polish is. Just look at the amount of photos I took. Hahaha.

Then the weirdest phenomenon happened when I was at Ion Orchard. I dunno what angles did the light came at and made Metallic Green look so freaking awesome!

It kinda looks like I’m wearing some sort of magnetic polish right?? SO PRETTY!! ❤

Zoya Ivanka (Sparkle Collection)

To those of you who check back regularly, I’m sorry for not posting for more than a week! I have so many essay deadlines coming up and I’m rushing through them now. I actually have alot of posts to do up but looks like I won’t have time till the deadlines are over ): Nevertheless, I’ll just do up a short one to relieve a little bit of stress before I continue with my battle against Business Management essays :/

This is Zoya Ivanka from the Sparkle collection released in summer last year. I only got it this year and it was proudly sponsored (along with Gemma, Crystal, Gloria, Dannii and Valerie) by my dearest secondary school friends as a present for my birthday this year 😀 I gave them my wishlist and they picked out those shades for me and I love them all so much! I meant both my friends and the polishes hehe.

Zoya Ivanka is a emerald green glass fleck glitter. It has the same finish as Orly Halley’s Comet/Zoya Charla/OPI Catch Me In Your Net. In other words, it is just as gorgeous! It is pretty sheer though, at two coats my VNL could be seen so I did three. The formula is very pleasant because it was very smooth and thin with each coat and it is really easily buildable to become opaque. These kind of polishes are awesome because you don’t have to worry about brushstrokes or streakiness, so it is a good choice for a fast manicure!

From the first picture of the bottle, some blue duochrome can be seen on the edges of the bottle, but sadly this doesn’t show up on the nail. But I guess Ivanka is already so gorgeous on its own! It is really easy to remove as well. Although it has the typical shine of traditional glitters, it is not chunky or gritty at all and topcoat can easily make it really smooth and glossy. I didn’t use any topcoat here by the way!

This is probably one of my favourite kind of finish! It is really wayyyyy more sparkly than my pictures can ever portray :p

Fauxnadicure: Cloth Prints

I’m so sick of thinking of what to write up for my assignment so I’m here to just blog this short post up since I promised yesterday but haven’t done so!

What I used (L-R):

  • Konad Special Polish in white
  • Bundlemonster BM201
  • Sinful Colors Mint Apple

I did this in a hurry, hence the slight smudges in the prints ): I’ve no idea why but this fauxnadicure looks like cloth prints when seen from afar! I can’t think of what piece of garment I saw this on but it is really deja vu for me when I saw it! The tips look terrible though, because my nails are a little too long for stamping now. I should have filed them down a little first, damn!

Sucks to be me because I won’t be able to change polish so often until next Monday after I submit my assignment! ): But please visit anyway, maybe re-read my posts or something until I post a new one okay? Hehehe!

Sinful Colors Mint Apple

I was contemplating on whether I should add this into my stash of green polishes for a long long time, but since I it was only USD1.99 without shipping, I didn’t manage to resist the temptation to get it! And now it’s probably one of my sister and my favourite greens 🙂

Mint Apple is a warm tone mint green creme with loads of gold and silver microglitter inside! This is such a special shade and I’ve never seen anything similar to this yet. None of the greens in my stash can even match up to this in terms of the shade. The formula is really excellent for such a cheap polish. I used two coats and they evened out perfectly. It was so smooth to apply that I didn’t even get any on my cuticles at all! That must be a first!

Pardon my ring finger’s redness, I’ve no idea why I developed two blisters on it ):

I stamped my nails the next day, and I’ll be posting the pictures up tomorrow so remember to check back 😀

Comparison: OPI Jade Is The New Black vs Essie Going Incognito

I originally only had Jade Is The New Black, and shortly after I ordered Going Incognito cos it looked much darker on Scrangie’s swatches. But when I received it, I was wondering why it looked so much like Jade Is The New Black! However this was only from the look of the bottle colour. I swatched it on my nail wheel and realized that they’re actually really different!

Pointer & Ring: OPI Jade Is The New Black
Middle & Pinky: Essie Going Incognito

Jade Is The New Black (shall call it JitNB from now on cos the name is too long zzz) is a warm shade of grassy green and Going Incognito (GI) is on the cooler side. GI is also a few tones darker than JitNB. Both shades are done in three coats. GI required only two coats to be opaque but I did three so that it’s consistent on all nails. JitNB needed the three coats because it is semi-jelly, hence it’s a little translucent. The good thing about jelly texture is that they dry super glossy! GI is definitely a creme though since it’s so opaque but it also dried pretty glossy 😀

Hope you enjoyed my comparison post! I’ll definitely do more in time to come 😀

Nfu Oh #066

As I’ve said before, I’m obsessed about holos. Hence Nfu Oh #066 is the first one I tried from my Nfu Oh haul 😀

Oh and I used the Nfu Oh Cuticle Remover right before this, and it was SO AWESOME! The bits of cuticle came off so easily, I hardly had to use any force to dig them out 😀

Nfu Oh #066 is a seafoam green holo. As you can see, its holographic pattern is linear. The colours in the holo are all very obvious and clear-cut. There is another kind of holo called the scattered holo, which I also have and will swatch them in future 😀

This was 3 coats. It was very smooth to apply only on the first coat. Subsequent coats caused bald spots, that’s why I used a third coat to even it out. I used it without basecoat because holos do not stain. However, as all holos are, it was very chippy. It chipped when I went to shower! ): Even wrapping my tips didn’t help. That’s why I need the Aqua Base! Apparently it extends the wear time of holos and aids in the application, causing little or no bald spots. I NEED IT ):

Anyway, spam of photos coming right up!

The next two photos are slightly under-exposed, to show the awesomeness of the holo 😀

And a close-up shot!
And of course we need to see a video of this, don’t we? 😀

I think people usually don’t get my obsession over holos because they’ve only seen pictures of them. It is most spectacular when seen in person, under sunlight. I wanted to take photos and videos in the sunlight but it has been raining so much these 2 days, and my manicure didn’t hold out for long. I hate chipped polish; it is one of my greatest pet peeves! Chipped polish makes one look unkempt and untidy; it’s like not touching up your hair roots when your dyed hair grows out.

Since it chipped, there was no reason why I should continue wearing it so I had no choice but to take it off ):

Harry Potter Nails

I’m a big fan of Harry Potter and the seven books. To mark the end of the movie franchise, I just had to do a Harry Potter manicure to get myself hyped up. Anyway the movie was freaking awesome! I love it so much and was so happy to watch it but also very sad that it is over for real. It’s like a part of me is gone cos it all ends here ):

What I used (L-R):

  • MAC Creme Shirelle
  • Orly Luxe
  • Orly Liquid Vinyl
  • Essie Going Incognito
  • Zoya Trixie
  • Tape (not shown)
  • The Face Shop Nail Art Pen in Silver (not shown)

Slytherin flag colours on my left hand, with the Deathly Hallows symbol on my thumb.

Gryffindor flag colours on my right hand, and also the Deathly Hallows symbol on my thumb.

Now you know why I did swatches with my right hand, cos Creme Shirelle was on my right hand and Going Incognito was on the left! Hahahaha. I painted them the night before so that they had ample time to dry to the core, and the following day I cut up small squares of tape and taped off 2 corners on each nail to do this checkered pattern.

For the thumbs, I painted them black and drew the Deathly Hallows symbol with The Face Shop Nail Art Pen.

I can has the Resurrection Stone on my thumbs! It kinda looks like my primary school school crest right??? LOL

Hahaha see, the same shapes are used!! Lol!

It’s gonna truly end when I remove this manicure and do the next one ):

Essie Going Incognito (Winter 2010 Collection)

Essie usually only does very boring reds, pinks and nudes, but when they do come up with funky colours like green, blue and purple, it’ll always be worthy to own them!

This was 2 coats. After putting it on, I realized it does kinda look like OPI Jade Is The New Black, which I’ve worn about half a year ago so no nice swatches. I’ll do a comparison the next time but let me try describing the difference. After observing them off my nail wheel, I found that Going Incognito is just very slightly darker than Jade Is The New Black. Going Incognito is also on the cooler side, while Jade Is The New Black is of a warmer tone.

Essie’s brushes are of medium length but very thin, so quite alot of strokes were needed for each nail, though it’s not an issue for me since I have pretty small nails. The formula for Going Incognito was slightly runnier than Jade Is The New Black. I love the Essie bottles so much cos of the embossed ‘essie’ on the bottle and the embossed ‘e’ on the top of the bottle cap! Overall, I prefer the darker shade of Going Incognito cos it just looks more mysterious!

Nail Art

Nail art is pretty to look at, yet super tedious to execute. Since I’m a right-hander, it is always easier for me to draw nicely for the nails on my left hand, and those on my right hand always turn out so ugly cos I’ve lousy control over my left hand ): So far, I’ve done a couple of crazy-cute nail art for myself! Here are the pics (:

My very first full-fledged cartoon manicure, the Penguin Manicure! I think this was particularly challenging when I had to draw the nails on my right hand. It was so hard to get the ‘M’ shaped curve on top! But the final results was so awesome cos they turned out so cute! I got many many compliments for this! Haha.

What I used:

  • White: Sinful Colors Snow Me White
  • Black: The Face Shop nail art pen (this is surprisingly good! very fine and opaque but my friend accidentally spoilt it, haha)
  • Orange: OPI Flit A Bit
  • Pink: Orly Cotton Candy

The next nail art that I did was of Domo-kun! This was inspired from The Daily Nail! The most difficult part of this manicure was drawing those stupid white teeth!! My best friend, Jadyn and I spent so much time just helping each other draw the little triangles that made up the teeth cos the nail art pen kept stringing the polish (it probably is too thick).

For the mouth, we taped off the sides with tape and painted the little rectangle with red polish, but the polish kept sticking to the sides of the tape when I’m pulling the tape off! What a chore!! But I’m really glad it turned out so cute haha and yes, we both got many compliments for it too (:

Shaohui's Domo-kun ManicureMy sister, Shaohui did the Domos with us too but for her she only did the thumbs, and I wrote ‘Domo-kun’ in Japanese for the rest of her fingers (I can’t actually write Japanese, I copied it off Google Translate HAHA). It was very cute too!

What we used:

  • Brown: Nubar Milk Chocolate Creme
  • Red: MAC Creme Shirelle
  • Black (for the eyes): The Face Shop nail art pen
  • White: The Face Shop nail art pen
  • and loads of tape :p

After all that nail art (and how a chore it was to draw the same thing 10 times), I was sick of it and stopped doing nail art for 1.5 months. Partially also because I was waiting for my Zoya haul to arrive so that I can do some Pikachu nails!

Aren’t they cute?!?!?! Hahaha! These were inspired by Nails by Asami! By this time, my nail art pen was spoilt, so I wanted to use my dotting tool to draw the faces but it was so damn hard! I gave up and used markers to draw instead. LOL. It was super easy to do this set cos with markers the ink just flows easily, unlike using a nail art pen where I have to keep squeezing the tube to let the polish flow out, or using a dotting tool where I have to keep dipping it into the bottle so many times. The only downside of it was that I should have waited longer before painting topcoat, because it smudged some parts of my manicure ): But maybe I smudged it by spreading topcoat too many times at the same spot :/

What I used:

  • Yellow: Zoya Pippa
  • Red & Black: Pilot Twin Markers
  • White: The Face Shop nail art pen

Last but not least, I did Strawberry nails with Shaohui again! I wanted them to look upright when holding onto a polish bottle so I decided to paint the green first. What a bad idea this was. When the red went over the green, it became SO DULL! I had to paint an additional thick coat of it to make it look more opaque. The results were still awesome nonetheless! I can has cute strawbie nails 😀

What I used:

  • Green: Orly Fresh
  • Red: Eyeko Coral Polish
  • Silver: The Face Shop nail art pen

Sadly, once school starts I may not have a chance to spend 3 hours drawing on my nails anymore. But I can still Konad-stamp my nails 😀 Stay tuned for posts on my Konad-ed nails!
